True's Yard Museum

Discover this place

True’s Yard preserves the story of King’s Lynn’s historic North End fishing community. The independent museum includes two surviving fisherfolk cottages, a Victorian smokehouse, a fishing smack, galleries, changing exhibitions and a welcoming tearoom.

Original fisherfolk cottages, a smithy and smokehouse place the North End community within the spaces where people lived and worked. The museum pays attention to households and everyday labour, keeping maritime history grounded in individual lives rather than ships alone. Photographs and oral histories add voices to the buildings. A visit offers a different perspective from the grand warehouses and civic architecture elsewhere in Lynn, revealing the people whose work sustained the port.
