Discover one of England’s finest Norman cathedrals, renowned for its painted medieval nave ceiling and the burial places of two queens.

The building grew from the medieval abbey church and remains a place of worship at the heart of the city. Its vast Romanesque interior leads to the striking Gothic west front, while the painted wooden nave ceiling rewards a slow look upwards. Katharine of Aragon is buried here; Mary, Queen of Scots was also buried here before her remains were moved to Westminster Abbey. A visit links Norman architecture, royal history and a living programme of music and services in one remarkable setting.
