A volunteer-run open-air museum of fen-edge rural life centred on historic buildings and the restored Stevens’ tower mill.
Buildings, workshops and collections bring the rural and social history of Burwell and its fen-edge setting together. The windmill is a prominent part of the site, showing how grain growing and milling shaped local work. Elsewhere, exhibits connect everyday objects to the people who used them and to changes in village life. The museum’s open-air layout lets visitors move between different aspects of the story rather than viewing it all in one gallery. It offers a grounded, human-scale introduction to the community and its landscape.
