Discover this place

Explore an internationally important Bronze Age landscape where a kilometre-long timber causeway and platform were preserved in the waterlogged fen.

The timber structures lay beneath waterlogged peat for thousands of years, preserving evidence of how Bronze Age communities used the edge of the fen. The park brings that archaeology into view through its landscape, displays and reconstructed prehistoric setting. Look beyond the famous causeway to the relationship between water, settlement and survival: Flag Fen tells the story of a place whose extraordinary remains exist because of the wet ground around them. It is a strong starting point for understanding the deeper history of the Fens.
