Former gravel pits beside the Great Ouse restored as lakes, lagoons, meadows and hedgerows for birds and other wildlife.
The lakes were formed from former gravel workings and now provide an intricate mix of open water, islands, reedbeds and meadows. Follow the paths to experience how the habitats change around the site and how birds use them at different times of year. The reserve is also an example of land finding a new ecological purpose after extraction. Its position near the Great Ouse makes it a pleasant place to explore the river corridor and the broader connections between water, industry and wildlife in the Fens.
