The Ouse Washes are an engineered flood storage landscape and an internationally important refuge for birds. Water levels and species change dramatically with the seasons, from wintering wildfowl to breeding birds and the movement of waders. Watching the reserve also reveals the close relationship between wildlife and the management of water in the Fens.
