A six-storey working windmill and prominent fenland landmark, built in 1877 and preserved by English Heritage.

Built in the late nineteenth century, the mill turned local wheat, barley and oats into flour and animal feed. Its six sails and rotating cap are distinctive features against the open Lincolnshire horizon. Conservation work has brought the structure back into working order, allowing visitors to understand both its engineering and the landscape that supplied it. The mill is a strong visual reminder of how farming, wind and craft once met in the Fens. Check English Heritage’s limited opening dates before travelling.
